When I started my business, I used all the traditional marketing strategies: cold calling, building contact lists, hosting parties, and making physical connections with customers. The problem with these strategies is that they were so time consuming.
After doing it for several years, I knew I had to change. I missed my family, and I knew that there had to be a way that I could market myself without being away from home.
Why Social Media Recruiting is So Successful
Then I began to dive into social media recruiting and marketing. Online recruiting strategies are working, and social media platforms are taking notice. Facebook was one of the first networks to take notice by announcing Facebook Live in early 2016. You have the ability to video broadcast anything you want from your own smartphone.
I have to admit… I was terrified to try Social Media recruiting with Facebook Live. I had started a fan page on Facebook, and I knew that if I wanted to succeed, I had to take full advantage of the platform.
I just kept being told “This is what you gotta do.” If you want to start attracting people to you? You want to do the Facebook Live and give content, give value, and help solve a problem. What’s your solution, or help … like a teachable moment, share that. I had to keep telling myself, “This is what you have to do.” I asked myself the following questions to give myself motivation:
- You want to attract more people, don’t you?
- You want to share valuable content, right?
- What’s the best way to connect with an online audience?
My answer to the last question was simple. Branding myself through video content! I wanted to create a teachable moment that would resonate with my audience. Facebook Live was a great opportunity to do just that.
Social Media recruiting with Facebook allowed me to build a community of curious people. I shared my expertise through video content, which fueled their curiosity even further. People are attracted to me because of who I am and what I have to offer. People come to know you and trust you, especially when you expose your true self to them.
Relationships develop so much faster using Facebook Live. You’re probably thinking, “I could never do that!” I’m telling you that you can and you should. Use this video platform to brand your business and market your services. It only takes 3 minutes to introduce yourself and what you offer. I promise that this works. You will have higher engagement and reach even more people.
If you enjoy doing home parties, keep doing them. If you enjoy cold calling, keep doing it. If you enjoy making a list of a hundred names and contacting them, then keep doing it.
