Does Your Why Really Have to Make You Cry?

I really just wanted to talk to you a little bit about our Why.

It was funny because I was talking with a coaching client recently, and we were talking about our Why, and if you’re in network marketing or direct sales, they’re always talking about this big, huge, audacious Why. Like know your Why, your Why should make you cry, and I’m going to tell you guys something.

So, I’ve been in network marketing now for four years. I got really passionate about teaching network marketing. The funny thing was when I was talking to her, we both said that we both didn’t have this big Why that made us cry, and then we almost felt like there was something wrong with us. So, if you’re sitting there, and you’re like, “What’s my Why? What’s my Why?” And you’re like, “I don’t know. I just want to get out of my nine to five job.” Well, that’s your Why, so if it doesn’t make you cry, don’t freak out about it.

Don’t sit there and try and hash it out, because we look at this big, huge Why, like something that would be a dream, you know, pay off my parents’ mortgage. That’s huge.

I’m not talking like 30-day goal here. I’m talking like the long-term vision. Okay so, what is so wrong with being a stay at home mom, never wanting to go back to corporate America, never wanting to own a traditional business again? Just to be able to have something that I’m building for our future for our legacy. We were talking and the same thing, but she thought something was wrong with her.

If you look at the personality quadrants, if you’re a red, which I am, you’re totally driven, you’re total producer. If you’re going to call me on the phone, we need to get right to it, because I have like 500 other things I’m working on. And then you have your blues, which blues are very sensitive, caring, and they probably will cry over their why. Or you have your white like Mother Theresa, then you have yellows that are just like, “Yay! I’m in it for the party. Like I just want to go to the event and like rock out and party.” Right?

It’s really cool to understand the personality quadrants, especially when you’re building a team, or to know who you are talking to. Because if I’m a total producer, if I have a white or a blue calling me from my team, I need to be a little bit slower with them, and more sensitive.

Okay, but back to the Why. Because I didn’t have this like crazy Why, I was like, “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with me that I don’t have this big, huge, audacious Why?” No, there’s nothing wrong with me. You know what it is? I am a mom, I’m busy, I saw a vision, I went after it, I pushed people over, they told me no, I kept going, I knocked over fear.

I had belief in myself that I could do it, because I saw all these other moms being able to do it with way more children than me. And so, that’s all it was, it was just like you have to have this drive within to succeed. And you can’t let other people’s agendas take over your life.

Social Media Recruiting FrenzySo, when you keep your eye on what you truly want, what you desire, you have a focus, your Way. My Why doesn’t make me cry. All I want to do is make an impact for all of you.

So, you have to find out what it is that drives you, because every morning when you get up, when you don’t feel like picking up the phone, or you don’t feel like doing your income producing activities, when you don’t feel like reaching out on Facebook, when you don’t feel like getting another rejection.

Don’t let anyone steal your dream, number one. And number two, there’s nothing wrong with you if your Why doesn’t make you cry. Focus more on what you really want and what drives you. What is your driving force? And that’s what’s going to make you keep going forward when you feel like stopping. Okay, so it’s a little bit different than the Why.

I just thought it was a funny thing I was going over with my client, and I thought I’d share it with all of you. We got a kick out of it.

The whole personality quadrant, that is really cool to know, especially when you are talking to people and you are building a team. You really want to understand who they are. So, it’s important to understand that, so you know how to communicate with them, right? It’s part of your learning, your leadership skills.
