For this episode, I want to show you how powerful it is to build a brand based around you. Seven months ago, I started my fan page and zero people were there, zero, and it’s so painful, I get it.
I work with clients all the time that are so nervous about creating a fan page, but it starts with a brand.
So, branding is a huge part of building your business. It helps your audience get to know you, they get to know your voice, they get to know how you operate, what you’re all about.
What did I do to brand myself? I branded myself as being an expert in network marketing.
You don’t need to make a million dollars to be an expert in something, I want you to totally understand this. That was one of the things holding me back for a really long time. I had to work through my own stuff and work with my mentors and have them help me get over the fact that you don’t need to make a million dollars a year to be an expert in something. You can teach, you can offer value.
#1. Branding improves your recognition.
I started to create a brand, and through the brand I started to improve my recognition.
My brand is Create Success with Julie, right? What did I want? Well, first of all julieburke.com was taken, it was $20,000, no way. So I was like, “Well what do I want for my community? I want to help them create success.” So I picked createsuccesswithjulie.com, and I started branding myself.
You need to create recognition. I’ve been in network marketing for a little over four years now and I was on my personal page in the beginning. Before I had my fan page, I started branding myself as just being a mom. A mom that was really into healthy eating, healthy living for my children, obviously my company’s health and wellness, it’s my passion. I’m very into yoga, trainings and just being healthy.
The tips I was providing on my personal page were me branding myself as a crazy mom, somebody who also wanted to raise a healthy family and children.
Don’t think you have to do this with a fan page, but I’m a big fan of the fan page because you can actually target your audience through boosted posts. Brand recognition comes as you keep providing value to your audience.
Here’s an example of brand recognition. I owned a Jimmy John’s franchise and it had recognition. Jimmy John’s is a sandwich shop, it’s really big in the states, but it is a sandwich shop and their tagline is ‘Subs so fast you’ll freak.’ They used the tagline in their commercials, on the radio, everything was freaky fast. That is brand recognition. You’ve got to do that as well with you, you’re not branding your company or your product, you’re branding you.
#2. Branding creates trust.
How do you create trust with your brand?
I’m sure a lot of you feel like you already know me and it’s kind of weird because I don’t know you yet, but we get to build a relationship and know one another. It’s really cool because you probably truly feel that you know me on certain level. So it’s really pretty amazing and I absolutely love it.
The brand trust builds the trust.
#3. Branding can generate new customers.
People are getting to know and trust you and they’re going off of your recommendations.
Here’s another example; I bought a new vacuum and I posted a picture of my husband holding the new vacuum and I said this was the best vacuum made. I posted it on my personal page and it was so funny because I had 16 people go out and purchase the vacuum and then take pictures with it and tag me or send me a private message.
Branding builds relationships. You have to build the recognition, you have to build the trust, and then it’s going to bring you customers.
Does this apply to any business? Of course.
Maybe you sell makeup, do you create makeup tutorials? Show them your favorite stuff. You’re not plugging your company, you’re just showing people how to do something or teaching them something new about how they can improve their skincare, or maybe travel on a budget, or how to use a certain type of oil. Maybe they didn’t realize that there’s all these different ways you can use this one oil.
You’ve got to base it around whatever your company is. Maybe you work with health and wellness and you have shakes and there’s several different ways you can make the shakes or protein balls, so you can share a recipe.
Break out of your shell, break out of your box.
Branding is huge, you’re branding yourself and offering value.
I’ve always heard people, like one of my mentors, say branding is super important. It wasn’t until I actually took the information and applied it and did it that I actually sat back and I said to them, “Okay, now I get what you’re talking about, now I understand what you’re talking about.”
So, there you have it, my tips on branding. That’s why you want a brand. Go out there and be yourself. I say it all the time, just do you, be you, be who you are and people will follow you for that and don’t try and emulate anyone else because you can’t, you have to have your own voice.

I’m working on building my fan page but I hate being in front of a camera and most of all I hate how my voice sounds. Also I live in Mexico City where is really dangerous so For security reasons I only post photos and they don’t show where I am.
