The other day, I talked about three tips to help build confidence. Because often, as entrepreneurs, no matter what business you are running, we all struggle with confidence and belief from time to time.
In this blog, I want to talk to you about the five elements of change. I live by these every single day.
Number one is awareness.
You have to realize if you are having a feeling and think about it.
Are you frustrated? Are you uncertain about something? Do you have fear? Are you doing something out of your comfort zone? Are you struggling with belief for any reason?
Number one is raising awareness as to why these feelings are coming up. It’s easier in life to ignore certain feelings than to face them.
Number two is having an understanding around these feelings and accepting them.
I think that that’s another struggle that we could have; accepting those feelings because oftentimes, again, we want to ignore them. What I’m saying is you don’t ignore it. You think about it. You have the awareness that it’s there, and then, you try to understand and accept it.
But often, we want to look the other way.
What’s number three, then?
Number three is to disassociate yourself with those feelings, to stop and reverse it.
Let’s say I’m having an off day, and I keep pressuring myself to maybe pick up the phone and make those calls. Or when I was slowly building my network marketing business, maybe it’s follow-up, and I just kept getting no, no, no, no, no.
It’s okay to disassociate, stop, take a break and walk away. Just walk away completely from what you’re doing. Maybe write about it. Maybe you journal. Maybe you write about your feelings. Maybe you do a Facebook Live to verbalize your feelings, that your day is sucking.
Not every day is going to be perfect. Not every day is going to be great. You’re going to face adversity, so definitely learn to disassociate yourself at that moment and stop those thoughts or those feelings and reverse it.
How do you reverse it?
That brings us to number four.
Number four is to create a new awareness. Flip the switch.
If you find yourself going into this downward spiral of funky thinking. You stop. Get up. Walk Away. Then you flip the switch and say “Okay, this is happening for a reason and I’m going to take it in and learn. I’m going to take what’s happening, learn from it and move forward.”
Because, again, we could get stuck in that space of “This is a crappy day,” and then, you just blow the rest of your day because you’re in that negative space.
Number five is reinforce.
Reinforce when you flip the switch with some positive affirmations, the “I will,” “I am,” “I can,” and just create a specific statement to overcome the self-doubt and affirm that every single day.
That’s what I do. Remember, it’s in the do that you create the change.
As you practice this, it’s not going to be great the first time around. But as you continue to move forward and do it every single day and create these positive affirmations, it does help. It does help.
To sum it all up.
#1 – Awareness. What’s going on with you? What are the feelings?
#2 – Understanding why you’re feeling that way and accepting it. I had something recently go down where I was having a certain feeling and ignored it for a really long time. Why? Because I had been comfortable. But I’m going to tell you right now, comfort doesn’t get you anywhere, so you have to understand and accept it.
#3 – Dissassociate yourself from where you’re at, at that moment, and create a new awareness. Flip the script. Whatever you got to do, flip the switch. Get up, walk away. Go for a walk. Take a break.
#4 – Create a new affirmation.
#5 -Reinforce a new positive thought.
I’m going to tell you something, it’s within the do, when you start doing this, that you actually create the change.
