I feel like sometimes, we lose ourselves in our business… or we can lose sight of really what the true meaning of happiness is when we are growing and developing ourselves and our business
Hey. Julie Burke here, founder of CreateSuccesswithJulie.com. I want to take a break to just talk to you about happiness in general. I feel like sometimes, we lose ourselves in our business or we can lose sight of really what the true meaning of happiness is when we are growing and developing ourselves and our business. In network marketing, personal development is huge.
I’ve been creating a lot of personal development videos talking a lot about confidence and belief. If you missed my video from yesterday, you have to go back and check it out. I got pretty amazing feedback from that video. I discussed how nobody else will care about your business except for you.
As you are designing your life as an entrepreneur, whether you’re a network marketer, an online marketer, a coach, or an internet marketer … you are trying to design your vision and your future. There are some of us who feel that we’ve sometimes evolved from one season to the next. I know I have throughout this past year, especially within my business.
Sometimes, we’re clueless as to where we want to go. We know it, we feel it, but still, we don’t know how to get there You have to build a plan that will help you grow as a business owner, as a mom, a wife, a husband, a daughter, a sister, a friend.
Before you could get that plan, though,
you have to start internally –
with just being happy.
Tip Number 1 – Live in the Moment
Really … can you just truly learn how to live in the moment?
This is something I have been working on. In this world, we literally move at mock three. I don’t even know if there’s a mock three, but I’m moving sometimes with my hair on fire. I don’t take the time to take a breath, re-evaluate, and really just take in the moment.
I can maybe go for a walk, or I’ll go work out, and I’ll go maybe try and chill with my kids, but mentally, I am still thinking about business.
Mentally, I’m still thinking about my to-do list.
I have my work face on. Even my husband always says, “You have your work face on.”
In the shower, I’m not taking a shower. I’m thinking. Sometimes, I get my best thoughts in the shower. It’s kind of funny actually.
Try to really take the time to live in the moment and stop multitasking so much.
A huge benefit to your business is just stopping and taking it all in.
Tip Number 2 – Resiliency
This is about adopting flexibility and resiliency in your business.
Resilient as meaning springing back when stuff goes wrong. Rebounding.
When people tell you no, you got to keep moving forward. You return to your original form, as I like to say. There’s always going to be resistance in your business.
When you do encounter resistance, you bounce back. How many of us can say that we do that?
I know at times, I’ve been hung up by people saying things, whether it be negative or hateful or people just telling me no. In those situations, you have to be able to have that armor.
So, I’ll start off my day with a plan or maybe I’ll have some goals that I want to hit that day. Then the day just doesn’t go the way that I plan it to go. Instead of getting frustrated, I have to learn to be flexible and course correct.
I return back to my plan when I’m in a better state of mind, and not so frustrated and stressed out.
Tip Number 3 – Keep Calm
Stay calm, all right? Remaining calm can actually keep your workload down and lessen stress levels.
Recently, I had something go wrong with one of my funnels, and it was pure chaos. I literally just wanted to throw in the towel. I had to take a step back and de-stress, decompress, and just learn how to stay calm.
Keeping calm, I know sounds way easier said than done. In reality, it’ll test your maturity. It’ll test your experience. It’ll test your wisdom.
It will help you if you just pull back a minute and reevaluate.
Tip Number 4 – Self Care
Be good to yourself.
We beat ourselves up. We are no good to anyone else if we are not, first, good to ourselves.
Take time out.
Time to go sit and read a chapter in your book.
Time to go listen to a personal development CD or podcast.
Time to just go take a walk.
Time to go get your nails done.
Like today, I’m going to get a facial. I’m taking a time out. I want to go get a facial.
Never underestimate the value of doing things for yourself and treating yourself right with speaking kind words.
Tip Number 5 – Be Still
Do nothing. Sometimes, there is great value in just sitting still and doing nothing.
Sitting with a quiet mind, sometimes, you could get your best ideas.
True happiness is a state of just being content.
If you’re not content, you have to ask yourself why? Why are you not content? Why are you not happy? And then, make a plan to change it.
Here’s a tip for you. If you can hold it in your hand, it’s probably not true happiness.
Go out there and find out what it is that is going to make you feel like you’re creating more of an impact, make you feel like a better person, make you feel happy. No one should be stuck and doing something that they are not happy with. If you are, you need to change it.
My five tips again.
Tip 1: Live in the Moment.
Tip 2: Be flexible and resilient.
Tip 3: Stay calm.
Tip 4: Be kind to yourself.
Tip 5: Just do nothing. Let your mind relax.
